Denim Dungarees
Believe it or not, dungarees have been around since the 1700’s. We normally associate them with rural Americans, worn by those hard labourers such as farmers, railroad engineers, mechanics etc…
Dungarees were cheap to make, it didn’t matter how they fit or how they looked, they were primarily made to be durable, and were a symbol of being at the bottom of the food chain.
It wasn’t until it was 200 years later when women started to wear them in factories during the First World War and then 30 years after that, they were introduced to children.
Anyways enough about the history…How did they become such a fashion craze?!?!?
Throughout the 20th century, they constantly made an appearance, but it wasn’t until spring/ summer 2010 when couture fashion designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Chloe and Ralph Lauren bought them to the catwalk, that people were convinced they were stylish.
Although, the craze has been growing over the past few years, this spring/summer 2013, is when you will notice that everyone will have a pair of trendy denim dungarees, especially when we have spotted Alexa Chung and Zooey Deschanel wearing them!
